Why it needs replacing
Media is consumed, not permanent
Each stage works differently, and each has a finite working life.
- 1KDF-55
Works by redox reaction. Its capacity is gradually used up as it converts chlorine.
- 2Calcium sulfite
Consumed as it dechlorinates - a reactant, not a sieve.
- 3Vitamin C
Consumed as it reacts. This is the stage most sensitive to on-time replacement.
- 4Activated carbon
Adsorbs rather than reacts, so its surface eventually saturates.
Media certified to NSF/ANSI 42. The finished filter is not NSF certified.

About cartridges
How long does a cartridge last?
About three months, depending on your water and how much you use it. Households with more people or longer showers will get through them faster.
How do I replace it?
It swaps out in around 60 seconds, no tools needed. Unscrew the housing, lift the old cartridge out, drop the new one in and screw it back together.
Will an old cartridge damage my filter?
No, but performance falls away once the media is spent. The housing is unaffected - it is machined aluminium and outlives many cartridges.
Is the cartridge the same for chlorine and chloramine cities?
Yes. The same four-stage cartridge reduces chlorine and helps reduce chloramine, so it works whichever disinfectant reaches your tap.
